Mmmm... lots of sliders

The band is potentially eyeing our first real major "band" purchase, an $1,100 mixing board that would expand our live sound capabilities (more inputs, better monitoring than the smaller Yamaha we have now). My experience with live sound is minimal, so I mostly just smile and nod, but I'm super impressed with the size of this beast. Awesome. Thirty Two Tracks.

Currently, we use 12:

  • 4 vocal mics (including one wireless)
  • 2 guitar processers
  • 2 direct box guitars (one electric, one acoustic)
  • Bass Amp
  • Kick Drum
  • 2 keyboards

We'd talked about getting a mic for our drummer (for both vocals and harmonica), but realized we're maxed out. We couldn't add him without some other weird workaround. And even now, we can't use the keys the ways we'd like, since we're out of amplified channels.

With the new board, we could get better monitoring, mic the drums, etc. Required? Maybe not. Cool? Oh yeah.

Looks nice! Well done. Also, I heard the demo. Sounded wonderful for only a handful of hours.
